A jury in Montana has awarded a woman and her four children a $1.7 million verdict in a medical malpractice lawsuit
According to court documents, Amy Heidt filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against Billings Clinic and Dr. Faranak Argani over the 2005 death of her husband, Gerry. Heidt’s attorneys claim that Argani misdiagnosed Gerry’s chest pain as a torn muscle, rather than acute pain caused by a leaking heart valve.
The lawsuit contends that Argani should have referred Heidt to a heart specialist. Heidt’s representation argued that Gerry died a year later because he did not receive a replacement valve. He was 42 years-old.
Attorney for Argani and Billings Clinic, John Russell, declined to comment on the case other than to say Argani is still practicing at Billings Clinic.
