What are anesthesia errors?
Anesthesiologists have some of the most critical jobs in the world. They have the responsibility of carefully monitoring a patient’s life signs while he or she is under surgery. During this time, the patient is unconscious and has no ability whatsoever to respond to stimuli. Any mishap on behalf of the anesthesiologist can lead to tragedy.
Anesthesia errors typically occur as a result of negligence. If the anesthesiologist fails to properly monitor the patient and respond to complications, administers the wrong dosage of medication, leaves the patient unattended, uses oxygen negligently, or turns off any alarm or alert system on the machines, then he or she has committed an anesthesia error.
